April Feature Updates Summary

One and a half months have passed since our official launch on March 15. Based on your feedback, we delivered many new features and improvements throughout April. Here is a summary of the key updates.

Local ↔ Google Drive Auto Sync NEW

Two-way automatic sync between local folders and Google Drive. Local edits flow to Drive automatically, and Drive updates flow back to local. Auto-synced files are registered in your shelf, making multi-device use smoother Shelf: Personal & Group only.

Major Spaced-Repetition Upgrade NEW

OS notifications + Web Push via Cloudflare Workers — notifications arrive even when the browser is closed. ClickTap a notification to start the review flow directly. Auto re-check after the scheduled time prevents missed reviews. The first line of your note is shown as a hint in the notification.

Book Search Overhaul

Official Google Books API key for faster, more stable search. Automatic fallback to NDL (National Diet Library) when no hit is found Personal & Group only. Main-title exact-match filter eliminates unrelated results Personal & Group only. Credit information is always displayed in search results.

Enhanced Media Support

Added "Channel" credit type for better YouTube and TV show records. New media type filter (Books / Movies/TV / Music) on the reading volume graph. Extended credit display in lists (director, composer, etc.); also available in shelves Shelf: Personal & Group only.

Better Reading Experience NEW

Added page-turn animations (slide / 3D flip toggle) in reading mode. Paste cover images directly from the clipboard with Ctrl+V. Redesigned the edit form into a two-tier layout for easier input.

Usability Improvements

Fixed: sort order not being applied, editing being unavailable when the filename is empty, white screen when submitting bug reports. Settings modal can now be closed by tapping outside, and copy/paste issues in mobile input fields were resolved. Many other small fixes.

March Feature Updates Summary

Since our official launch on March 15, we have delivered many new features and improvements. Here is a summary of the major updates.

Image Perspective Correction NEW

You can now apply perspective correction (keystone correction) to photos of book pages directly in the lightbox. Photos taken at an angle can be corrected to appear as if taken straight on. Results are reflected in your notes with full undo/redo support.

YouTube Mini PlayerPlayback NEW

Paste a YouTube URL in your notes and clicktap the icon to play the video. A built-in mini player supports playlist expansion and automatic title display.Videos open directly in the YouTube app.

ClickTap-to-Zoom Images in Notes NEW

ClickTap images in your notes to view them in a lightbox with zoom. Mouse wheel zoom is supported.Pinch-to-zoom is supported. Rotation and OCR are available from the context menu.

Score Tracking Graph NEW

Write #score 15/20 in your notes to visualize your score trends as a graph. Perfect for tracking test and workbook performance over time.

You can now try all premium features for 30 days without a credit card. Simply sign up and start using all features right away.

Major Review Reminder Improvements

The review reminder system has been significantly enhanced. The ⏰ icon now shows graduated urgency levels — growing larger and flashing red when overdue. ClickTap the icon to mark a review as complete, see a ✅ when all reviews are done, receive cross-file banner notifications, and undo completions.

Login UX Improvements

The app now remembers your previous login method to streamline the login process. OAuth users see Google login guidance, and a warning is displayed in incognito mode.

Device Login Notification Toggle

You can now turn device login notification emails ON or OFF in Settings.

Haptic Feedback Setting

You can now enable or disable haptic feedback for interactions on mobile devices.

Mobile UI Improvements

The notes area is now wider on mobile, dates display on two lines, and screen rotation lock is available — improving the mobile experience overall.

Help Page Search

A site-wide and in-page search UI has been added to Help pages, making it easier to find what you need.

Google Drive Available on Free Plan

Google Drive integration, previously limited to paid plans, is now available on the Free Plan as well.

Security Enhancements

Added HSTS headers and OAuth device limit checks to strengthen security.

March 15, 2026 Release

Reading Forest Official Release!

Today, we are excited to announce the official release of Reading Forest.

After approximately six weeks of beta testing since February 1, we have incorporated valuable feedback from our beta testers to deliver the official version today.

With the official release, we are launching paid plans (Personal Plan and Group Plan). All plans include a 30-day free trial, so feel free to try them out. The Free Plan remains available as always.

Beta testers will receive one year of free access as a thank-you. We sincerely appreciate your contributions.

February 1, 2026 Release

Reading Forest Beta Test Launched!

Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Reading Forest beta test.

During the beta test period (February 1 - mid-March 2026), beta testers can use all features for free. The official release is scheduled for around March 15, 2026.

We welcome feedback from our beta testers. Please submit bug reports and improvement suggestions through the beta tester forum.

For the best experience with Reading Forest, we recommend using the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome (latest version) — Recommended
  • Microsoft Edge (latest version) — Recommended
  • Mozilla Firefox (latest version) — Limited features
  • Safari (latest version) — Limited features

Note: Firefox and Safari do not support the File System Access API, so features like bookshelf (local file history) and save location selection are not available. For full functionality, please use Chrome or Edge.

Internet Explorer (IE) is not supported. Additionally, some features may be limited in private browsing (incognito) mode.
