Paper Size

You can select the paper size in the print dialog. A4 is commonly used.

Orientation

Choose between portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) depending on your content.

Color / Black & White

Choose between color or black & white printing. Black & white is recommended to save ink.

Printing Without Background Colors
To save ink, uncheck "Background graphics" in your browser's print settings to print without background colors.

What Gets Printed

The print feature prints the contents of the currently displayed reading logs:

  • Book Information - Title, author, cover image
  • Progress Graph - Time-series reading progress graph (when enabled)
  • Reading Calendar - Reading activity heatmap (when enabled)
  • Comments - Comments about the book
  • Reading Records - Dates, page ranges, and notes

Print Only Selected Books or Works

If your reading log contains many books or works, check the boxes next to those you want to print, and only the selected items will be printed.

  1. Check the checkbox next to each book or work you want to print
  2. Click [File]→[Print] (or press )
  3. Only the checked books or works will be printed
When Nothing Is Selected
If you print without checking any boxes, all books and works in the reading log will be printed.
Layout Optimized for Printing
The layout is automatically adjusted for printing to be more readable than on screen. Unnecessary buttons and menus are not printed.

How to Print with Cover Images

Reading Forest lets you print reading notes with book cover images included. Follow these steps to ensure covers appear in your printout.

  1. Go to [File]→[Settings]→[Display] and confirm "Show cover images" is ON
  2. Check the print preview to make sure cover images are loaded (Google Drive images may take a moment)
  3. Go to [File]→[Print] to print
An easier way to create reading notes with cover images
Instead of manually searching for cover images and printing them separately, Reading Forest lets you print cover images, reading records, and progress graphs all at once with a single click. You can also save as PDF to review on your smartphone anytime.

Display Options Integration

Print output respects your [File]→[Settings]→[Display] options. Items hidden on screen are also excluded from printing.

Display options and their effect on printing
Display Option When OFF
Show cover images Prints without cover images
Show unread books Excludes books with 0% progress
Show in-progress books Excludes books with 1–99% progress
Show completed books Excludes books with 100% progress

Show reading records Prints book info only (no records)
Show records without notes Excludes records that have no notes

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: The print dialog doesn't appear

Your popup blocker may be enabled. Allow popups from the Reading Forest site (allisone.co.jp) in your browser settings.

Q: The printout looks different from the screen

The print layout may differ from the screen display. Check the print preview before printing.

Q: I only want to print specific pages

You can specify a page range in the "Pages" setting of the print dialog.

Q: The cover (poster, jacket, etc.) doesn't print

If cover images are not printed, consider the following causes:

  • The Google Drive image hadn't finished loading before printing started — check the print preview to make sure the cover is displayed before printing
  • The image URL is no longer valid — verify that the cover is displayed on the normal screen

Note: The "Background graphics" setting does not affect cover images. It only applies to background colors and decorations.
