Version Info shows the current version of Reading Forest you're using. Having version information ready helps when contacting us or reaching out to support.
How to Check Version
- Click [Help] in the menu bar
- Click [Version Info] from the dropdown menu
- A dialog will display the app name and version number
- Reading Forest - Application name
- v20260118a - Version number (example)
Understanding Version Numbers
Reading Forest version numbers are formatted as follows:

You can simply compare version numbers. For example, "v20260118a" is newer than "v20260110c" (because the date is more recent).
How to Update to the Latest Version
Reading Forest operates as a PWA (Progressive Web App) and typically updates automatically. However, browser cache may sometimes show an older version.
Method 1: Update from Menu
- Click [Help] in the menu bar
- Click [Update to Latest Version]
- Check the version information shown in the dialog
- If a newer version is available, click [Update]
- The page will reload with the latest version
- Up to date: Green check icon. "Current version" and "Server version" show the same value. Just close it
- Newer version available: Orange arrow icon. Both versions are shown side by side so you can see the difference, then click "Update"
- Could not check for updates: Blue icon. Shown when the server is unreachable. Only the current version is displayed. You can still update, or check your connection and try again
Updating will cause unsaved data to be lost. Please save your file before updating.
Method 2: Clear Cache and Update
If "Update to Latest Version" doesn't work, you may need to manually clear your browser cache.

Q: How do I know if I have the latest version?
Open [Help] → [Update to Latest Version] and the dialog shows both the "Current version" and the "Server version". If they match, you're on the latest. If a newer version is available, click "Update" to clear the cache and load it.

Q: What about PWA installations?
If you've added Reading Forest to your home screen (PWA installation), you can update using the same steps. If it still doesn't update, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Q: Do I need to include version info when contacting you?
Version information is automatically sent when you contact us through the app, so you don't need to enter it manually. However, when contacting us by email, including the version info helps us respond more efficiently.
