iCloud Drive Recommended
Easiest for Apple products. Save to iCloud Drive to access from other Apple devices.
1. Save file: In Reading Forest, "Save to Local" → Choose "On My iPhone" as destination
2. Move to iCloud: "Files" app → Long-press saved file → "Move" → Select "iCloud Drive"
3. Open on other devices:
- Mac: Get file from Finder's "iCloud Drive"
- Windows: Go to iCloud.com and download
Free up to 5GB. Internet required.
AirDrop Fastest
Transfer in seconds with Mac. Not available on Windows.
Setup: Set AirDrop to "Contacts Only" on both iPhone and Mac (if your Mac is in your contacts)
Transfer: "Files" app → Long-press file → "Share" → AirDrop → Select Mac
Mac only. Must be within 9m of each other. Avoid "Everyone" setting in public places.
Google Drive Cross-Platform
Best for those who also use Android or Windows PC. Works with Reading Forest's cloud feature.
iPhone: [Files] app → Long-press file → [Share]→[Save to Drive]
PC: Go to drive.google.com and download
Free 15GB. Requires App Store installation first.
Other Methods
Lightning/USB-C Drive
No internet needed for large transfers. Use Lightning drive for iPhone 14 and earlier, USB-C drive for iPhone 15 and later.
Email Attachment
For small files, email to yourself. Attachment limit is typically 25MB.
Troubleshooting
Files don't appear in iCloud: Check "Settings" → Your name → "iCloud" to ensure iCloud Drive is on
Mac doesn't appear in AirDrop: Turn on Wi-Fi/Bluetooth on both devices, set AirDrop to "Everyone"
Can't find files in [Files] app: Check [Browse]→[On My iPhone]→[Downloads]
