Registered Book Not Displayed

If a registered book is not appearing on screen, filter settings are usually the cause.

Cause 1: Progress Filter is Off (Most Common)

Reading Forest allows you to show or hide books based on their reading progress. If these filters are turned off, books matching those criteria won't be displayed.

Solution

  1. Click [File][Settings] from the menu
  2. Select the "Display" tab
  3. Make sure all three checkboxes below are turned ON
Filter Name Affected Books
Show unread books Books with 0% progress (newly registered)
Show in-progress books Books with 1%-99% progress
Show completed books Books with 100% progress (finished)

Cause 2: Search Filter is Active

If there's text in the search box, only books containing that text will be displayed.

Solution

  1. Check the search box at the top of the screen
  2. Delete all text in the search box
  3. Or click the "×" button on the right side of the search box

Cause 3: Book is in a Different Position Due to Sorting

Depending on your sort settings, the book you're looking for might be displayed further down the page.

Solution

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to check
  2. Or use browser search (Ctrl+F / ⌘+F) to find the book title

Book Disappeared After Adding a Record?

When you add a record that brings progress to 100%, the book will be hidden if the "Show completed books" filter is off. In this case, go to Settings → Display → Turn on "Show completed books" to see it again.

Note: In the latest version, a confirmation message appears when adding a record would cause the book to be hidden by filters.

Your Data is Safe

The book is simply hidden by filter settings - your data has not been deleted. Adjusting the filter settings will make all your books visible again.
