Efficiently move data with copy, cut, and paste
Clipboard Operations Overview
In Reading Forest, you can copy, cut, and paste books and reading records. This is a convenient feature when you want to move data to another tab or file.
- Copy/Cut/Paste Books
Copy entire book information and paste it elsewhere (Paid Plan only) - Copy/Cut/Paste Reading Records
Move or duplicate reading records to different books (Available on All Plans) - Move Between Tabs and Files
Open two tabs and move data from one to the other
Tip
Using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V) makes operations more efficient. The same operations are also available from the "Edit" menu in the menu bar.
Copy, Cut, and Paste Books
You can copy or cut books and paste them elsewhere. This feature is useful when organizing reading notes or splitting files.
Paid Plan Feature
Book copy, cut, and paste features are only available on paid plans. Free plan users can only copy, cut, and paste reading records.
How to Use
- Select a Book
Click to select the book you want to copy or cut - Copy/Cut
Press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut. You can also use the "Edit" menu in the menu bar - Open the Destination
Open the same file, another tab, or a different file - Paste
Press Ctrl+V to paste. You can also use the "Edit" menu in the menu bar

Copy (Ctrl+C): Keeps the original book and creates a duplicate
Cut (Ctrl+X): Removes the original book and moves it to another location
Copy, Cut, and Paste Reading Records
You can copy or cut reading records and paste them into different books. This feature is available on all plans.
How to Use
- Select a Record
Click to select the reading record you want to copy or cut - Copy/Cut
Press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut - Select the Destination Book
Click to select the book where you want to paste the record - Paste
Press Ctrl+V to paste. The reading record will be added

When you want to record common content across multiple books, it's efficient to create the record once and then copy and paste it to other books.
Save to File
You can save selected books as a new file. This is useful when you want to split files or manage specific books separately.
How to Use
- Select a Book
Click to select the book you want to save as a separate file - Click "Save to File" Button
Select [File] → [Save to Another File] from the menu bar - Specify Save Location
A file save dialog will appear, where you can specify the location and filename - Save Complete
The selected book will be saved as a new file

This feature uses the File System Access API. It is available on compatible browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Opera.
Copy & Paste Between Tabs
You can open two tabs in your browser and move books or records from one to the other. This is useful when splitting files or organizing data.
How to Use
- Tab 1: Open the Source File
Open the file you want to copy/cut from - Tab 2: Open Another File in a New Tab
Open a new tab in your browser and open the destination file - Cut/Copy in Tab 1
Select the book or record you want to move and press Ctrl+X (cut) or Ctrl+C (copy) - Paste in Tab 2
Switch to Tab 2 and press Ctrl+V to paste - Save
