Searching & Filtering Books

Even as your collection grows, use search and filter features to quickly find the books you need.

Keyword Search

1. Open the search dialog
   Open the search dialog from the menu [Edit]→[Search] or use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F), then enter your keywords.
2. What is searched
   Search covers:
   • Book titles
   • Author names
   • Publishers
   • Note contents
   • Quote contents
3. Search scope (choose one of three)
   Choose how far to search under "Search scope" in the search dialog.
   • Current record only: only inside the record you are editing. Available while editing a record
   • All records of the selected book: all records of the one book you have selected. Available while a book is selected
   • All books in this file: all books in the reading log file you have open
4. Search by hashtag
   Start with #, as in "#vocabulary", to narrow the list to books whose notes contain that hashtag. A hashtag search always covers all books in the open file, regardless of the search scope (the scope buttons are unavailable meanwhile).
5. Search the bookshelf
   Check [Search bookshelf] to search the reading log files registered on your bookshelf (including the open file, if it is on the bookshelf); matches are listed by file. The bookshelf search looks at the saved contents of each file (unsaved changes are not included). The search scope buttons do not apply to the bookshelf search.
   The bottom line of the search dialog shows both results, such as "This file: ... / Bookshelf: N found".
6. Real-time filtering
   Results appear instantly as you type.

Filtering by Status

Filter books by reading status.

• Click the filter button at the top of the screen
• Select from "Not Started", "Reading", or "Finished"
• Multiple selections are possible (e.g., Reading + Finished)

Sorting

The book list can be sorted by:

• Date Added (default): Newest additions at top
• Title: Alphabetical order
• Author: Alphabetical by author name
• Date Finished: Most recently finished at top
