Clipboard Operations
Efficiently move data with copy, cut, and paste
Clipboard Operations Overview
In Reading Forest, you can copy, cut, and paste books and records. This is a convenient feature when you want to move data to another tab or file.
- Copy/Cut/Paste Books
Copy entire book information and paste it elsewhere (Paid Plan only) - Copy/Cut/Paste Records
Move or duplicate records to different books (Available on All Plans) - Move Between Tabs and Files
Open two tabs and move data from one to the other. Works across different browser tabs and windows. - Select All / Deselect All
Press Ctrl+A to select all books at once, and press it again to deselect all. - Paste While Editing Text
When editing book information or records, Ctrl+V pastes text into the editor. This works just like a normal text editor.
Tip
Using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V) makes operations more efficient. The same operations are also available from the "Edit" menu in the menu bar.
Copy, Cut, and Paste Books
You can copy or cut books and paste them elsewhere. This feature is useful when organizing reading logs or splitting files.
Paid Plan Feature
Book copy, cut, and paste features are only available on paid plans. Free plan users can only copy, cut, and paste records.
How to Use
- Select Books
Click the checkbox of the book you want to copy or cut to select it. You can select multiple books at once. - Select All / Deselect All
Press Ctrl+A to select all books. Press Ctrl+A again to deselect all. You can also select from the "Edit" menu: "Select All" or "Deselect All". - Copy/Cut
Press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut. You can also use the "Edit" menu in the menu bar. - Open the Destination
Open the same file, another tab, or a different file. Works across different browser tabs. - Decide Paste Location
If you have checked any books in the destination, the paste will occur before the first checked book. If no books are checked, the paste will occur at the beginning of the book list. - Paste
Press Ctrl+V to paste. You can also use the "Edit" menu in the menu bar.
Difference Between Cut and Copy
Copy (Ctrl+C): Keeps the original book and creates a duplicate
Cut (Ctrl+X): Removes the original book and moves it to another location
Note on Paste Location
When pasting with no books checked at the destination, the pasted books are always added to the beginning of the list. If you want to paste at a specific location, check the book that comes after where you want to paste.
Copy, Cut, and Paste Records
You can copy or cut records and paste them into different books. This feature is available on all plans.
How to Use

Press Ctrl+V to paste. The record will be added to the destination book.
Pasting While Editing Text
When editing book information or records, pressing Ctrl+V will paste text (not a record paste, but a normal text paste).
Useful Tips
When you want to record common content across multiple books, it's efficient to create the record once and then copy and paste it to other books. You can also paste records to books in different tabs or files.
Save to File
You can save selected books as a new file. This is useful when you want to split files or manage specific books separately.
How to Use
- Select a Book
Click to select the book you want to save as a separate file - Click "Save to File" Button
Select [File] → [Save to Another File] from the menu bar - Specify Save Location
A file save dialog will appear, where you can specify the location and filename - Save Complete
The selected book will be saved as a new file
Supported Browsers
This feature uses the File System Access API. It is available on compatible browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Opera.
Separate to Another File
You can save selected books as a new file and automatically delete them from the current file at the same time. Unlike "Save to File", the books are automatically deleted after saving, making file splitting easier with just one step.
How to Use
- Select Books
Click to select the books you want to separate to another file - Click "Separate to Another File" Button
Select [File] → [Separate to Another File] from the menu bar - Specify Save Location
A file save dialog will appear, where you can specify the location and filename - Separation Complete
The selected books will be saved as a new file and automatically deleted from the current file
Difference from "Save to File"
- Save to File: Only saves the books. They remain in the current file. You need to manually delete them after saving.
- Separate to Another File: Saves the books and automatically deletes them. File splitting is completed in one step.
File Splitting on Free Plan
The free plan allows only up to 20 books (works) per file. When splitting files with 21 or more books (works), you can easily use the "Separate to Another File" feature to split them.
Copy & Paste Between Tabs
You can open two tabs in your browser and move books or records from one to the other. This is useful when splitting files or organizing data.
How to Use
- Tab 1: Open the Source File
Open the file you want to copy/cut from - Tab 2: Open Another File in a New Tab
Open a new tab in your browser and open the destination file - Cut/Copy in Tab 1
Select the book or record you want to move and press Ctrl+X (cut) or Ctrl+C (copy) - Paste in Tab 2
Switch to Tab 2 and press Ctrl+V to paste - Save
Save both files
Useful for File Splitting
When you want to split a large reading log into multiple files, this method is convenient. You can organize files by genre, year, or any other criteria.
