Drag this button to your bookmarks bar
📖 Save to Reading Forest
If your bookmarks bar is not visible, enable it in your browser settings.
Chrome/Edge: Ctrl+Shift+B | Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+B | Safari: Cmd+Shift+B
Bookmarklets are a desktop browser-only feature and do not work on mobile devices.
If you want to save web articles on mobile, copy the URL and manually record it in the "Reading Forest" app.
- If already installed, please delete the old bookmarklet before adding a new one (duplicate entries may be created with the same name)
- This bookmarklet always uses the latest version automatically (no reinstallation needed)
- Internet connection required (does not work offline)
- May not work on some sites due to security settings
Browser-specific Setup
Google Chrome
Just drag and drop the "📖 Save to Reading Forest" button above to the bookmarks bar. That's it!
Step 2: How to Use
1. Read a Web Article
While reading an article on any website, stop at the position where you've read up to.
2. Click the Bookmarklet
Click the "📖 Save to Reading Forest" button you added to your bookmarks bar.
3. Automatically Recorded in Reading Forest
"Reading Forest" opens in a new tab, and the article URL and reading position are automatically recorded.
- Article title
- Article URL
- Reading position (percentage and pixel position)
- Nearby text (for Text Fragment)
4. Resume Reading Later
Click the link recorded in the "Reading Forest" notes to resume reading from where you left off.
Position Restoration Mechanism:
1. Attempts to restore using Text Fragment (text position) (Chrome/Edge/Safari compatible)
2. If Text Fragment is not available, restores using scroll position (%)
* Due to technical limitations, exact position restoration is not guaranteed. The Text Fragment API displays matched text on screen, but pixel-perfect position restoration is not possible with current HTML technology. Please use this as a rough guide for "approximately where you left off."

- Dynamically loaded pages (infinite scroll, etc.) may not restore position accurately
- HTML pages only - Position restoration does not work for PDFs, images, videos, or other file types (only the URL will be recorded)
Uninstall (Remove)
If you no longer need the bookmarklet, you can delete it like any other bookmark.
Right-click "📖 Save to Reading Forest" in the bookmarks bar → Click "Delete"
Removing the bookmarklet does not delete any web article links already saved in Reading Forest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does it work on smartphones?
A: Unfortunately, adding bookmarklets on mobile browsers can be difficult. We plan to support browser extensions and apps in the future.
Q: Does it work on all websites?
A: Yes, it works on most websites. However, there are restrictions on the following sites:
- Sites with strict security like banking sites (when JavaScript is restricted)
- Sites requiring login (recording is possible, but re-login may be required when opening the link)
Q: Is the scroll position accurate?
A: Text Fragment (text position) restoration is the most accurate. Supported in Chrome, Edge, and Safari 16.1 or later.
Firefox currently does not support it, so restoration uses scroll rate (%).
Q: What happens if an article is deleted or the URL changes?
A: If you click the link and the article is not found, you can search for the article by title.
Q: What about privacy?
A: The bookmarklet only runs when you click it.
The recorded data (URL, title, reading position) is all stored in your "Reading Forest" account and is not shared with other users.
Q: What if the bookmarklet doesn't work?
A: Please check the following:
- Is the bookmarklet correctly added to the bookmarks bar
- Is JavaScript enabled
- Is the browser's popup blocker enabled
- Are extensions (like AdBlock) blocking scripts
